Frequently Asked Questions
I want a custom painting, do you do commission work?
Can I commission you to paint anything I want?
It would be in both of our best interests for me to work on subject matter similar to that which I am accustomed to – you won’t benefit at all from my inexperience in a foreign subject matter or style and probably don’t want to pay me for a “learning curve” but rather for a quality painting. If you want something painted in a subject, style, or medium similar to one that I already work in then you should definitely inquire about your idea. If you want a style or subject matter that I do not normally paint you would probably be better off to seek out an artist that works in those styles or subject matters (for example, I’ve never painted a vase of flowers or a meadow – a request for that type of painting would best be proposed to a still life or landscape artist). If you are not sure if I would be a fit for your idea/proposal, send me an email and inquire!
How much would a commission painting cost?
Generally speaking, the price of a work is related to the size for commission work (other factors relating to the complexity of the piece and any research needed would also be a consideration). That being said, commission work is generally more expensive than the price of the rest of my portfolio (this is typical by the way!). Usually the price is somewhere between 25 to 40% more than regular pricing depending on the size and any other factors. This can all be discussed and agreed on before any money changes hands or any work is started. Also, a non-refundable deposit would be collected before work is started. For an idea of the cost, please email me and get a quote.
Do I need to frame an original painting I buy from you?
None of the original paintings I sell come framed but all originals that are on canvas are able to be hung without a frame (all paintings that show 1 1/2 inch profile are what is called “gallery framed canvas” and can be simply mounted on the wall by a wire and hook or simply resting on a nail or two; all other profile sizes listed on the website are stapled on the back so they can be hung on the wall as they are as well, or if you wish you can have them framed); prints for the most part will need to be framed unless you desire to hang them like a poster.
Are you represented by a gallery?
Not at this time (but open to the idea!).
Can I buy your work anywhere else in the HRM?
Not at this time but I am working on a few leads, check back!
Do I have to do anything to protect the painting I bought from you?
No. All original paintings have a varnish coat (usually matte [non-glossy]) and do not need anything special done to them.
If I am ordering a limited edition print, can I request a specific numbered print?
You will normally be sent the next available number, but if you want a specific one that is still available simply write me using the Contact page and tell me the details of your order immediately after you order it and I will send you the print number you want if it is available. Alternatively, you can use the notes/special requests box on the Checkout page to add any instructions and I will do my best to fulfil the request.
Are any of your paintings or prints framed?
No (not unless it specifically says in the product description that it is framed).
Are you ever looking for a model for your figurative paintings?
Yes in general I am on the look out for models to pose for (photographs for) paintings depending on what ideas I have on the horizon. Fit/muscular males would be of particular interest on an ongoing basis. If you would be interested in posing, please write me on the Contact page.
How did you build your website?
The website was built with wordpress.org free software and a purchased theme (Divi by Elegant Themes) and uses a free WooCommerce eCommerce plugin for the “shop” module. My domain/hosting services are through namespro.ca.
Is there another way for me to purchase a print or original work besides the online shop?
I can most likely accommodate you if you would like to purchase in person from my studio (cash only) or if you would feel more comfortable using e-banking transfer through e-mail and pick up the painting/print or if you are in the HRM I could drop it off as well.
If I want a print of a work that is not offered on your online shop can I still buy it?
The cost to have an original scanned for reproduction is very expensive and prohibitive unless I can sell multiple copies of that print. If there are several requests for a print that I don’t have offered and I have the original still to make prints from then it may be a possibility. Please contact me with your request/question via the Contact page.
Can I return a print/original for a refund?
In general, there is a no refund policy. If an item is damaged in shipping send me an email.
Do you design tattoos, could you design my tattoo? Can I use one of your drawings for my tattoo?
Although I have no experience with tattoo design specifically, many of my drawings would be suited to a tattoo style. If you have an idea and you have seen my other works and feel I would be a good choice to design/draw you a tattoo, please feel free to inquire using the Contact page.
All images/drawings/paintings/photographs are copyright. If you wish to use an image/drawing from this website or my social media pages for a tattoo, please write me a really lovely email and we can discuss it 🙂
Hey, your friend's friend is a friend of mine, can you paint/draw me something for free bro?
Ummmmm…no. 😉
Trying to make a living at this “art” thing, so if you really are a friend of mine (or a friend of a friend of a friend) then you will probably want to show your support by paying me what I’m worth. Thanks! 🙂
